Notice Regarding Closure of Hobbs Collection Site
The Hobbs collection site will be closed beginning
July 1, 2010 due to the construction process to
install the final membrane over the old landfill.
This is part of the environmental mitigation
process to cap and seal the landfill.
The site will not accept
any trash or recycling beginning July 1. The
capping process is expected to take approximately
six months.

Notice Regarding Collection Site Permits
Beginning January 1, 2011, a $25 charge will be
implemented for County collection site permits. A
permit is required to use County collection sites
(Melville, Old Denton, and Preston). Permit costs
will not be prorated and must be obtained each
calendar year. Each vehicle must have a separate
permit. Proof of County residency is required to
obtain a permit.
No permit will be required to use the Mid-Shore II
Regional Landfill Homeowner Drop-Off, which will
replace the current Holly Road collection site.

Midshore Regional Recycling Program

The Midshore Regional Recycling Program (MRRP) is a
cooperative partnership formed in 1993 by and between the
Maryland Counties of Caroline, Kent, Queen Anne's and
Talbot. This program provides many free recycling
opportunities to approximately 119,000 residents.
The MRRP provides igloo recycling drop-off stations in
Caroline County at the following locations:
- Choptank: Choptank Marina
- Denton: Denton Plaza (Rose's)
- Federalsburg: IGA Parking Lot
- ***Federalsburg: Old Denton Road
- Goldsboro: Henderson Road
- Greensboro: Carnival Grounds
- ***Henderson: Melville Road
- ** Holly Road Recycling Center
- ** Preston: Back Landing Road
- Ridgely: Railroad Street
- Templeville: Crown Stone Road
Igloo Recycling Drop-off stations accept: mixed paper
(now including cereal boxes), plastic bottles & jugs
(#1 & #2), metal cans, and clear, brown & green
glass bottles.
** Also accepts oil & antifreeze, cardboard, scrap metal.
*** Accepts scrap metal, oil, antifreeze, and corrugated
cardboard ONLY
The MRRP also provides regular opportunities to recycle
electronics and household hazardous waste. There is a
computer recycling drop-off at the Holly Road Site. Further
information can be obtained by contacting MRRP.
Solid Waste
Holly Road Collection Site
11930 Holly Road, Ridgely, Maryland 21660
Directions: 1/2 mile north of Holsinger Lane on
Holly Road.
Hours of operation (until approximately Jan. 1, 2011)
- Tuesday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Wednesday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Saturday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Accepts: general household trash (up to 10 bags),
furniture, appliances, passenger and light truck tires
(off the rim, up to 4 per month)
Recycling accepted: cardboard, scrap metal, waste
oil, newspapers, white paper, magazines, plastic bottles
and jugs (no caps, number 1 & 2), clear, brown, and
green glass, steel and aluminum cans, and electronics
The Holly Road site will not be operated by Caroline
County when the Mid-Shore II Regional Landfill opens,
which is expected on or about January 1, 2011. The
County's Holly Road site will then be operated by
Maryland Environmental Service.
Mid-Shore II Regional Landfill

The Regional Landfill Homeowner Drop-Off can be used
by area residents free of charge—no permit is required.
Expected Hours of Operation:
- Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Saturday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Accepts*: general household trash, furniture,
appliances, scrap tires, soil and landscaping/yard waste
material
Recycling accepted: cardboard, scrap metal, waste
oil, newspapers, white paper, magazines, plastic bottles
and jugs (no caps, # 1 & 2), clear, brown, and green
glass, and steel and aluminum cans

Melville Collection Site

Directions: 1/2 mile off Rt. 311, between Goldsboro
and Henderson. Turn off Rt. 311 at Mickey's.

Old Denton Collection Site

Directions: 100 yards off of Rt. 313, between
Federalsburg and Route 404. Approximately 1/2 mile
north of Tri-Gas & Oil.

Preston Collection Site
105 Back Landing Road, Preston, Maryland 21655
Directions: Located off of Backlanding Road.
Turn left before railroad tracks, next to Preston sewage
lagoons.
