Caroline County Administrator Search Committee Members

Judge J. Owen Wise, Chairman
Judge Wise is the former Circuit Administrative Judge for the Second Judicial Circuit of Maryland, which includes Caroline, Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne's, and Talbot Counties. Judge Wise also served as State's Attorney for Caroline County from 1970-1978.

Judge Wise served as Chair of the Caroline County's 1981 Governmental Study Commission, which recommended the adoption of Code Home Rule government in Caroline County. He was also Chair of the Caroline County Ethics Commission for several years. Judge Wise has served as a member of the Board of Trustees for Chesapeake College for more than ten years. He is past president of the Denton Volunteer Fire Company and the Rotary Club of Denton.

Judge Wise is a veteran of the United States Army. He received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law.

Clement B. Hathaway
Mr. Hathaway is the current president of the Caroline County Chamber of Commerce. He is past President of the Rotary Club of Denton and the Choptank Investment Club. Among his other numerous civic involvements are membership in the Caroline County Historical Society and the Caroline Council of the Arts.

Mr. Hathaway is also dedicated to youth development. He is a member of the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council and has served the Council in leadership positions as Chairman of the Mid-Shore President's Advisory Council and Chairman of the Development Committee. Mr. Hathaway is also a board member for CASA of Caroline and is active in Maryland 4-H, serving as a coach and instructor to the Claybusters shooting program.

Mr. Hathaway is a veteran of the United States Army and a graduate of Towson University. He retired in 2007 from Mid-Atlantic Farm Credit where he worked as an Agribusiness Account Executive, managing a loan portfolio of more than $60 million.

Margaret Myers
Ms. Myers served for two terms as a Caroline County Commissioner, from 1990 -1998. She served as President of the Commission her entire time in office. During that time, she also represented the county on the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo), serving for several years on the Executive Committee.

Ms. Myers is currently a member of the Chesapeake College Board of Trustees, vice president of Interfaith Housing Delmarva, and treasurer of the Caroline County Friends of the Public Library. She was elected as trustee-at-large to the board of the Maryland Association of Community Colleges (MACC) in 2002 and served three years as President of that statewide organization.

Her past active involvements have included the Choptank Community Health System Board of Directors, Caroline County Human Services Council, and the St. Martin's Ministries Board of Directors. Ms. Meyers is a graduate of Purdue University and is 1998 graduate of Shore Leadership.

Gale P. Nashold
Mr. Nashold has served as mayor and councilman for the Town of Greensboro. He is currently the President of the Board of Trustees for the Caroline County Public Library System.

Among his numerous civic engagements are memberships on the boards of directors for the Caroline Economic Development Corporation, the Caroline Hospice Foundation, the Greensboro Chapter of the Caroline County Historical Society (President), and the Mid-Shore Regional Council (former Chairman and Treasurer).

Mr. Nashold is a veteran of the United States Navy and a graduate of the University of Baltimore. He retired from the Electronic Systems Sector of the Northrop Grumman Corporation, following many years with Westinghouse Electric Corporation and Northrop Grumman. Mr. Nashold is the 2010 recipient of the Greensboro Outstanding Citizen Award.

Milton E. Nagel
Milton Nagel is the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services for Caroline County Public Schools. He is a graduate of the University of Delaware and is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Nagel is an active member of many professional organizations in his field, including the Association of School Business Officials, for which he has served in a variety of leadership positions for the Maryland-DC chapter, including President.

Mr. Nagel is active in many community groups and is particularly devoted to youth development and sports. He is current president of South County United By Athletics (SCUBA), past Board member and coach for South Caroline Little League, and a soccer and baseball coach at Colonel Richardson High School. Mr. Nagel is also a member of the Provident State Bank Community Advisory Board.

Mr. Nagel is a lifetime resident of Caroline County. He is a 2007 graduate of Leadership Maryland and in 2001 was the recipient of the Caroline County Human Services Council Volunteer of the Year Award.

Terenda V. Thomas
Ms. Thomas is a human resources management consultant with over thirty years of experience in that field. She served as chair of the Caroline County Personnel Review Board for more than ten years and is a certified mediator.

Ms. Thomas is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Caroline County Public Library System. Among her other numerous other civic engagements is membership in the public service sorority Delta Sigma Theta, for which she serves on the scholarship committee. Ms. Thomas is also a member of Bell's Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she serves as President of the Missionary Society.

Ms. Thomas is a graduate of Frostburg State University and is currently pursing a graduate degree at Wilmington College with a dual concentration in Human Resource Management and Public Administration.
