- Risk Management - The Department of Emergency Services facilitates the Risk Management and Loss Control program for the Caroline County government. This includes:
- Identifying safety hazards and concerns and working with departments to improve worker safety
- Submitting and monitoring claims associated with County government, including worker’s compensation
- Assisting departments and employees with insurance questions or claim problems
- Administering a comprehensive insurance program for fleet, property, general liability, environmental, boiler and machinery, crime, and worker’s compensation
- Technical Support Services - The Department of Emergency Services provides technical support for computerized systems, including:
- Geographical Mapping Information System
- Maintenance of the Computer Aided Dispatch and Police Records Management Systems
- Administration and software maintenance of enhanced 911 systems
- Administration - Administration is responsible for the overall management of the Department. This includes:
- Providing overall vision and direction for the Department
- Providing high-quality personnel management, including assisting employees and programs to meet established goals
- Managing grants and alternative funding sources
- Coordinating Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP) reporting for the volunteer fire companies
- Promoting Emergency Services activities to allied organizations
- Managing the Department’s social media presence
- Providing public outreach and education
- Providing support to the various program areas within the Department of Emergency Services
- Providing assistance to the volunteer fire departments
